Day 8: Cookie Gifting Ideas

Ok so day 8 is a little late! I participated in my first craft sale on Saturday, and I was a little wiped out so I took the weekend to revive myself! But I have a few gift ideas for all those cookies your have been baking like crazy!

You can of course bake lots of cookies and make a cookie plate. If you plan on giving the plate I'd recommend a quick trip to your local Sally Ann, to find an inexpensive one off plate that would make the perfect setting to your cookies! Tins also work extremely well, and you can find them at the dollar store for... $1! Or if you're feeling crafty you can try this little trick, which I have posted before:

Up-cycled Christmas Cards! You can find the tutorial here if you'd like to know exactly how to make these sweet little boxes.

Or, if you feel that baking all those cookies yourself might be a little too much, then try gifting one of these cute little jars of almost baked goods. I say almost because the recipient will have to add a couple ingredients, and mix, spoon and bake themselves. But there sure is something about layers in a glass jar that would please just about anyone :)

For lots of delicious jar cookie recipes check out this page. I'm sure you can find something for everyone on your list!

There's a few ideas to get you started! And don't forget, you can still link-up any cookie recipes if you'd like to share some cookie love :)

Stay tuned, tomorrow we start the squares portion of the countdown!

Happy Baking

Fabric Gifts!

Recently a friend of mine, who I worked with all summer, long celebrated her birthday. This year it was the holiday Monday of labour day weekend (only three days after mine) and I though wouldn't actually get to see her, I had a few crafty creations up my sleeve for her.
I'm not sure if you read Crystal's blog over at Crafty Ave, but she recently posted about goals revisited, and stated that one goal is to include something handmade with every gift they give. And I have to agree that they are doing well, I have received many handmade gifts from them (more on that later).  Well I am trying to do something similar, to create something unique, handmade and full of love to include in most presents that I gift people. And I think I've already started planning out Christmas :) Eep! So excited!
I made Kathleen a fabric bucket, told hold slippers, hats and mitts, wool, or anything else she can think of to put in there.
She also got a map pillow. She loves maps, and one day at work we had a bit of a discussion about maps. I decided to get some ink-jet fabric, find a cool map and make a small decorative pillow out of it. I was really happy with the ink-jet transfer, although the map colours were fairly light and I think in the future I would try on paper more than once to enhance the colour saturation.
Finally a small kleenex holder. It was only a prototype, but I think a good compliment. It was inspired by Marysza, she sent me one as an added gift when I ordered my guest book for my wedding. So cute!

Have you made anything for anyone recently? I'd love to take a peek!

Weekends Away

This past weekend I drove to Ottawa to spend some time with friends. We celebrated one friend's birthday, and there was a small bridal shower on Sunday to celebrate my upcoming wedding. At the shower, along with lots of love and well wishes, I was presented with this card. It was made by a crafty friend of mine, and inside was a note that told me although my gift hadn't arrived yet they hoped it would 'aid' me in the 'kitchen' with 'mixing' (I will be sure to share when it arrives!). What a wonderful group of girls! There is something to be said for great friends - we have another weekend together coming up soon, and then I see them at the wedding. So many visits, so much love!

Giveaway Day Winnings!

So May 23rd was Giveaway Day over at Sew Mama Sew. I had wanted to enter something, but I was away that weekend, and decided I would just wait until next year. I did have a chance, however, to enter a few lovely giveaways upon my return. And found out shortly after, that I won one! How exciting!!! And in the process I found a few new blogs to add to my reader. :) My goodies came all the way from Texas!

Four lovely quilted notecards, and some antique buttons... Buttons? Did someone say buttons? All from Amanda at Dandelions and Lace. I would go take a gander, she a lovely girl, with a very pretty blog! And I do have some other mail I go recently, I just keep forgetting to photograph it. But I will share soon! Have you received any mail lately? Would you like to?

I love mail!

Last week I received a lovely surprise in my e-mail. I won a giveaway over at Crafted Love. Allison had e-mailed to let me know that I won Melisa's necklace. I was super excited, I never win anything. A while ago I won this, and now the necklace; maybe my luck is changing. Anyways, when this little package came in the mail I couldn't wait, but I did. I wanted to photograph it, so I could share with all of you. Take a look :)
