Dear Pip: About your Name

So I thought a fun way to share updates on the baby's development would be to write it a little letter. Reggie and I are not going to find out whether it is a boy or girl until the baby arrives, and instead of calling the baby 'it' I decided a cute name would be fun. For some reason (I'm not sure how) I decided on Pip.

Dear Pip

This is only your name for now. We have other (possible) names for you, depending on whether your are a boy or a girl. I chose this name one day while baking in the kitchen. I'm not sure how it came to me, but it did, and I thought it was super cute - as I'm positive you will be!

At Christmas time while visiting with family and sharing information on your development so far, I also shared your temporary name, and your Great Uncle Dave exclaimed "P.I.P! Person in Progress!"And then it was official, what a perfect name for a perfectly developing little person.

We are so excited, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait! And while we are waiting we are making plans, and getting things organized so everything will be ready when you decide to make yourself known to the world. In about four months from now I will be able to hold you in my arms, something I've been dreaming about since long ago. I can't believe how fast the first 23 weeks have gone! I'm sure you will be here before we even realize it! But until then, I will be sure to keep you safe and warm, and I'll try not to sit still for too long, because I know you don't like that!

Love always,
Mama

  1. SO exciting that you aren't finding out the sex till birth!!! I did that with my son and it was ABSOLUTELY the MOST EXCITING thing ever! It was intense incredible amazingness, they told me to reach down and get my baby, it seemed like an eternity, my husband helped me bring babe to my chest, then he turned my babe over and announced, "It's a boy." It was sheer pure joyful bliss.

    GOOD LUCK!!! :)
