Weekend Wedding Update

I know, I know, the weekend is over. I meant to stop in quickly with a wedding update, but I just didn't have the time. I went to Orillia this weekend to visit my parents, while Reggie had a weekend away with the boys. My parents and I ended up going to their cottage, and on the way to and from mom and I got all the wedding decor figured out.
Mom and I chose some really beautiful mums to help decorate the outdoor area where we are having the ceremony. And decided on how all the centerpieces are going to look. With pine cones, natural grapevine, and fall colours my love of the outdoors and especially fall is really going to show through!
And recently I mentioned that I found the ties for the boys, I warned them they were bright! I think they will look great with the light blue shirts I picked out, and they are so close to the girls dresses everyone will be coordinated :)
All in all it was a good weekend. We got some relaxing in, including Gunner, decor decisions were made, we had a nice visit, and the boys had a fun weekend together. I just checked the long-term forecast - 20degrees and sunny, let's hope that rings true on the day. Only 13 days to go now!

Tulip Festival

I lived in Ottawa on and off for almost 6 years. In all that time I only ever had the chance to see the Tulip Festival once. It was magnificent! It was an incredibly inspiring display of beauty, dedication and patience. And a great way to celebrate spring!

My parents came to visit me for a weekend, and even though it was raining, we enjoyed all.

One day I will make it back there to see the beautiful blooms again, but until then I have my photos to inspire creativity.

Have you signed up for the Michelle's Giveaway yet?

More Small Surprises

Well, yesterday I told you about the baby carrots I harvested from my vegetable garden. And as I continue to clean up the yard (which is quite large and overwhelming) I am finding more wonderful things. Since it is cool and sort of snowing today, I thought I would share some of these spring delights. I love spring flowers they are so resilient in this totally unpredictable weather!
This little guy is growing despite the snow, which is almost gone

Such a beautiful sight next to the dark earth and brown leaves

There is so much life, if you just look closely!
I have to go to work today, so there will be no playing in the garden, but I hope to get out there tomorrow! What's growing in your garden?

Surprise Gifts are Always Lovely :)

I'm feeling a little under the weather this morning. Being female can sometimes be a curse... However as I lay on the couch, cuddling with the microwaveable heat bag Crystal made me for Christmas, I can smell something beautiful!
Hyacinths are a beautiful fragrant spring flower! And in white! So lovely. Reggie's mom gave these to me (and some to Crystal) the other day when we went to Crystal's for dinner. Now, with these and the other spring bulbs Reggie gave me for Valentine's Day, I am going to have an entire spring garden to plant in the fall!

No, I'm not wishing away summer before it is here, but fall happens to be my favourite... And along with my Wedding and Birthday there are so many other things I love about the season. However, let's stay focused: Spring has Sprung!

Through my Lens (Flowers)

The flowers in Newfoundland are a thing of beauty, if you can find them! (some are very small)
