Frosty Morning

This weekend Gunner and I went to visit my parents, and were able to fit in a little cottage time. This morning when we woke it was cold and bright with mist rising off the lake and frost adorning the countryside. Gunner and I went for a little walk down to the water to get a closer look at the natural beauty!

Isn't he sweet? What a perfect partner for a frosty morning stroll!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?

Bad Blogger

Bah! I meant to schedule some posts for this weekend as I am out of town visiting my parents - but I didn't have time. I just tried now to get my laptop on the internet, to no avail, and then I tried to transfer some photos from my laptop to my parents computer via my memory stick, and it's just not working. I'm sorry! I know promised a delicious cinnamon pull-apart recipe to my twitter followers, and I promise it is still coming. I also have a couple garden updates to share as well as some exciting news: I am going to be the featured participant on the 7 Day Push Blog for the month of November. I`m excited, and it means I`m going to be doing a lot of blogging! I`ve also been busy working on some new crafts, and I hope to put them up on etsy later this coming week. Also, I can`t forget it`s halloweèn on Monday! This is what I feel like right now (I loved these books when I was little :):

But it is a good feeling. :) I hope you`re having a great weekend, where ever you are!

Fall Leaves Fall

Reggie and I have a 1/2 acre lot, with somewhere in the neighbourhood of 13 maple trees. This time of year is my favourite, with the colours, the cooler weather, the fall harvest, the layers.... but then. Then the beautiful leaves fall to the ground, and with as many trees as we have we can't just ignore them. I took a good chunk of my day yesterday and Gunner and I raked and bagged 10 bags of leaves!
The leafy culprits!
making a little progress
And as you can see that wasn't even half of what there is. Last night I noticed my wrist was a little sore, and I decided to wrap it to reduce further injury. So I think I sprained my wrist raking leaves, and luckily for me it's rainy today so I think I'll take a little raking break and do some crafting. And get back to the leaves tomorrow, they aren't going anywhere anyways... Unless you want to stop by and take some with you? No? I can't imagine why not?! hehe

How is your fall shaping up? Hallowe'en is less than a week away, are you ready?

Thanks!

So this week the 7 Day Push Challenge is to say thank you, to everyone for all things little and big.

To start off:
First, and very foremost I would like to say thank you to all my readers out there! I am so happy at how my little blog has grown in only 8 months. And I love that you follow along in my daily activities, be them productive or not! So thanks! It wouldn't be possible without you. :D

Also this week I have to work on some thank-yous for all those lovely people who attended our wedding.

I asked a friend of mine to make the cards, and I received my first shipment last week. So this week I am going to work on writing out all those thank yous. :)

I have always considered a simple thank you a very important thing. I make sure to thank people in the service industry when I am out shopping, eating or elsewhere. I also try to remember to thank the people close to me. I think sometimes people can overlook those who are close, because 'they know' that we feel thanks, but I think it makes them feel special and happy about whatever they did to help us out. So this week I am going to make an extra effort to say thank you, and make sure that everyone knows how much they are appreciated!

Wedding: Handmade Decor

There were a few details in the wedding that were handmade, and I'm pretty excited to share. I wish I could have done more by hand, but with my busy job this summer it just wasn't feasible (and thank goodness for my mom, or there wouldn't have been as much as there is!)

So as you can see there wasn't an overwhelming amount of decor. The ceremony took place outside at a beautiful property owned by friends of the family. We added a little colour with some potted mums, artificial fall leaves and pumpkins. Mom and I chose the mums, but she was the one to display them so nicely while I was busy getting my hair done and dress on!

At the reception we kept things simple. Mom and I collected pine cones during the summer, to fill glass jars and use as added decoration on the tables. Mom wrapped the mason jars in a light blue yarn and filled them with different coloured daises. She also made all the bows, and put together the grapevine decorations. What a talented mom I have! (and even after having more than one meltdown - thanks mom!)

And finally, I made some delicious treats for our lovely guests to take home, and we outfitted them with a little hand-stamped veneer. The stamp was ordered from this shop, and I highly recommend it! The flavours were strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, peach jams, and grape jelly. I never did try the grape, I hope it was delish!

Well, that's a pretty big post. I'm overwhelmed, and I can only assume you feel the same. Be sure to check back tomorrow for some Hallowe'en decor tips!

New and Fresh!

So these pics aren't that great, but I figure you get the idea. I chopped my hair! Here is the before:
 And the after:
I love it! So fresh, and so much lighter. I had an angled bob once in the past, and didn't maintain it. This time I am going to try to maintain it. It feels great!

What do you think?

The Cure to a Dreary Day

The last few days have been awfully gloomy around here, and Reggie was away until yesterday afternoon. But Gunner has been sure to keep my company with his cuteness and his puppy antics!
It's nice to have him around, especially when Reggie is away. Also, I have a hair appointment this afternoon, and I can't wait. I've been growing out my hair for a long time (for the wedding) and I am ready for a much shorter fresh cut! I'll be sure to share when I get back.

What are you up to this Thursday?

Craft Update

So here is a little update, like I promised, about what I have been working on recently. Some sewing, amassing the boot beanies for the approaching cold weather, a nautical themed headband. And can you guess what I'm planning with that colourful yarn?

It's been great, I hope I can keep it up! What have you been up to?

When Reggie's Away...

I will certainly play! Of course I play when Reggie is here, but he's away on a moose hunting trip for a few days, and Gunner and I have the house to ourselves.
Reggie's spot is usually on the couch, and as you can see I've taken over a bit while working on some crafts. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. And it will be long cleaned up by the time he comes home on Wednesday! I'll share a bit of an update tomorrow on what I've been working on.

Hope you're having a good Monday!

Through my Lens: Fall on the Rock

It's been a while since I posted something uniquely Newfoundland. I thought as Fall here comes to full bloom, I should share some shots of my experiences in Newfoundland during the Autumn.

Beautiful, isn't it!?
